The Proper Audio PAB-1 is a high performance Power Amplifier, designed to effortlessly drive virtually any loudspeaker. The PAB-1 makes use of Class AB amplification, which provides plenty of power on demand, but has the rare ability to also reproduce the subtleties required for the quietest of passages.
Dual Mono
Designed using a pure "Dual Mono" approach, both channels are completely isolated from each other to the extent that they are each powered by separate toroidal transformers - this optimises both channel separation and noise performance.
Hybrid Architecture
The benefits of both through-hole and surface mount technology have been fully exploited. Surface-mount allows the use of ultra-high tolerance components in the most compact configurations, minimising the length of the signal path and vastly reducing the number of junctions those signal pass through. The use of through-hole components is restricted to high-power components that require the heat dissipating properties unique to these larger devices, or where certain through-hole components offer superior sound quality.
Bi-wireable Outputs
The PAB-1 has two sets of speaker outputs per channel. This make it very easy to implement a bi-wired setup, when used with the appropriate loudspeakers. The terminals are designed for high current and long-term reliability.
Comms
The PAB-1 utilises the Proper Audio Comms system, which creates a communications network between your various Proper Audio devices. The CA-1 takes control of the PAB-1 and ensures that it is operating correctly before connecting to your loudspeakers. It also controls the power saving features of the system by detecting period of silence greater than 15 minutes, at which point it places the whole system in power-saving mode.
